Are you thinking about fertility treatment? To increase your chances of success, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers Recommendations for Preconception Health Care. They include:

• Take 400 mcg of folic acid daily, in the form of a vitamin supplement or enriched foods.
• Stop smoking cigarettes.
• Reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption.
• Reduce or eliminate caffeine intake.
• Exercise to control weight reduce stress.
• Monitor and control chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, lupus, etc.
• Choose quality foods that provide good nutritional value.
• Review your immunization records to be sure you’re protected against rubella, tetanus, influenza and whooping cough.
