When you’re pregnant, any medicines you take, including over-the counter or prescription drugs, herbs or supplements, can get into your baby’s system. Some medicines may be safe, but many are not. What should you keep taking, and what should you stop taking, during pregnancy?
The decision about whether or not to take a medicine depends on the risks and benefits. You and your doctors should make this choice together. Always speak with them first, before you start or stop any medicine. Not using medicine that you need may be more harmful to you and your baby than using the medicine.
